Membership DetailsIn Florida, out-of-state plant stock often performs poorly. Ask your grower about plant/seed origin and choose Florida native ecotype for use in Florida. Growers now recognize at least two native ecotypes in Florida: one which prefers moist pinelands, with blooms that are typically bright orange; and another which thrives in excessively well-drained sandhills and scrub, with blooms that exhibit more color variation from yellow-orange to orange-red. The pinelands ecotype may be easier to use in most typical landscape settings.
