Real Florida Landscapes™ CEU Series

at the 3rd Annual Native Plant Show April 9-10, 2015
MISSION
FANN’s Real Florida Landscapes™ CEU Series provides industry professionals with the information they need to succeed with native plants in landscapes and on restoration projects. Courses focus on the selection, use and maintenance of Florida native plants for landscape and restoration, and are taught by members and partners from allied organizations. Continuing education credits are provided for professionals affiliated with ASLA (landscape architecture), APLD (design), FNGLA (horticulture & landscape), ISA (arborists) and other organizations as requested.
HISTORY
FANN has provided continuing education for industry professionals since 1986.
AUDIENCE/ATTENDANCE
Leading green professionals throughout Florida and the Southeastern U.S. attend FANN courses. Nearly 60% of course attendees are registered landscape architects and LEED accredited professionals. Attendees also include designers, installers/maintenance professionals, environmental consultants, municipal and nonprofit staff engaged in landscape and restoration, and growers/retailers. Attendance ranges from 50-100 students per class.
COURSE CONTENT & FORMAT
FANN invites new courses with fresh perspectives and information each year. FANN is always interested in course topics including but not limited to the following:
Courses are provided in conjunction with FANN’s annual Native Plant Show with a single track of eight total courses over two days. Each course is one hour in length. The schedule allows attendees time to visit trade show exhibits. Courses are taught in a separate classroom equipped with screen, projector and laptop.
COURSE SELECTION CRITERIA
All classes must tightly focus on the selection, use or maintenance of native plants, landscapes and restoration areas. Instructors are expected, based on their experience and research, to provide detailed plant selection, use and maintenance information not generally available elsewhere.
COURSE PARTICIPANTS
Course attendees must register and designate professional interests. Registration fees range $25-35 per course and include exhibit hall access at the Native Plant Show. Discounts and special passes are provided for students, instructors, volunteers and FANN members.
COURSE INSTRUCTORS
Instructors are responsible for developing and delivering their course. FANN coordinates all administrative, logistical and promotional details. All instructors have significant expertise in the use of native plants and are approved by FANN’s Education Committee. Current approved instructor bios are available online at NativePlantShow.com.
FUNDING
FANN covers travel expenses where requested, including lodging and transportation, or provides a modest stipend. For other requests, please inquire.
HOW TO APPLY
Prospective instructors are asked to submit a brief course proposal and bio by NOVEMBER 7 DEADLINE for review by and approval by FANN’s Education Committee. Submittal can be made directly via online form or by completing and returning a Word doc form.
If selected, instructors will be asked to submit final course proposal (1-2 pages) by December 5.
