Florida Governor Rick Scott and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation have announced $34.3 million in funding for nine Florida projects addressing high priority conservation needs. Five of these 9 projects appear to have particular potential opportunities for FANN members supplying native plants for restoration and habitat, ecological restoration services and urban landscape design services for stormwater treatment.
Escambia County – $11 million
Restoration of Bayou Chico including storm water treatment, stream restoration and living shoreline project.
Okaloosa County – $7.8 million total
City of Destin stormwater management projects to include roadside swale systems
Boggy Bayou water quality improvement projects to include habitat and living shoreline creation, exotic species removal and restoration of emergent grasses at headwaters.
Santa Rosa County – $1.4 million
590 acre acquisition with restoration & management to include burning, vegetation management and hydrologic restoration.
Walton County – $3+ million
Invasive species removal and burning to restore wetland habitat and increase freshwater flow into dune lakes.
