The Native Plant Horticulture Foundation, a new nonprofit dedicated to making communities sustainable by expanding the availability of native plants and native plant professionals, has sponsored an all native episode for the new reality TV series, Flip My Florida Yard, hosted and produced by HowtodoFlorida creator Chad Crawford. The foundation’s board moved quickly to capitalize on this opportunity, recognizing the value to the native plant industry. FANN had previously sponsored a pilot episode of HowtodoFlorida, featuring a front yard transformation in Bradenton. That project has led to new landscape projects for FANN members and a new TV series, Flip My Florida Yard.
The all native episode returns to the yard in Bradenton, interviewing owners Brad and Berni Volkmann and exploring their first year as owners of a native plant front yard, and also travels to The Villages to see Villages Chapter FNPS president Steve Turnipseed’s now 100% native landscape thriving in a highly managed community association. We’ll stop there so we don’t spoil all the surprise but we are super excited for the potential of this new series to motivate Floridians everywhere to transform and enjoy yards filled with more native plants. There’s more life and more to life than yawn lawns.
